Your Emsella Treatment Plan Explained

The recommended number of treatments is 6. Each session lasts 28 minutes, with at least 2 days between sessions, depending on your needs.

Completing the full treatment series is necessary to maximize treatment efficacy. You may need additional treatments depending on the severity of your condition.

Before your first treatment, you will take an incontinence survey to determine severity. Three months after completing all treatments, you will take the survey again to measure improvement.

What to Wear and Bring

  • Dress comfortably so you can spread your legs open and keep your back straight.
  • Avoid metal on the body; remove jewelry from your hands.
  • Wear light fabric bottoms so electromagnetic energy is not hindered.
  • Do not wear jeans, heavy sweats, or bottoms with zippers.
  • Bring light shorts if needed.
  • Remove coins and credit cards from your pockets.
  • Avoid leggings with metallic fibers.
  • Surrender all electronic devices (phones, watches, tablets, computers), as electromagnetic energy can harm them.
  • Bring a book or magazine to read during treatment.
  • Do not undergo treatment while menstruating.

What the Treatment Feels Like

 

During the Session

  • Typically no pain and no anesthetic needed
  • Gradually increasing tingling and muscle contractions
  • Sensations intensify as muscles warm up
  • Vibration alternates between:
    • Fast contractions
    • Deep throbbing (similar to a handheld massager)
  • Pelvic sensations are normal and expected

Intensity

  • 100% intensity works best
  • Can be lowered if needed
  • Most patients tolerate 100% comfortably

After the Session

  • You remain fully clothed
  • You may resume normal activities immediately

Although the FDA has approved this treatment for incontinence, insurance does not cover the cost of Emsella treatments.
